On Sunday the 3rd of November Mick Vanner (standard bearer, Essex Branch) and Stephen (padre) attended the annual memorial service of the Submariners' Association.

Held on the Embankment, it was attended by former and current submariners from as far away as Scotland and accompanied by the Royal Marines band. As on other years a roll call of all the submarines of the British fleet lost in peacetime and war was recited as 50 wreathes were placed on the memorial.

Mick was just starting out a heavy schedule of services as he represented the branch at Southend memorial events on the 10th and 11th of November.
