ST CEDD COMES HOME

Posted on 19 May 2014
St Cedd is believed to have been the founder of Christian Essex: back in the seventh century.

Mindful of this, Stephen asked Sister Onenn, an icon writer and friend from the Community of St Clotilde of California in St. Dolay, Brittany, to write an icon of St. Cedd.

She was willing to do this and presented it to Stephen on the 13th May when he visited her monastery. The following Sunday, the icon was ‘dedicated’ during the liturgy at the Cathedral.

Stephen is delighted to have such a reminder of the forerunner of the faith in Essex:: a copy is retained at Ferndale.
