Something to chew on

The Youth Event, organised by Connexions, was quietly accompanied by the first opening of the Community Cafe in Cluny Square.

The lease on the former cafe has recently been signed by the Church on behalf of the wider community. The local council, community groups and individuals have freely offered their support and it hoped that the shop will soon be open to provide a centre for community. Internet facilities, hot meals, various surgeries, opportunities for meetings are among the various roles anticipated for the cafe. Sarah Dawkins was among the team who helped get the premises ready… scrubbing floors a, perhaps, unexpected element in her ministry at Ferndale!

Stephen comments, ‘This is a wonderul opportunity for the church to place itself at the heart of the community and to be able to serve the many needy persons in the neighbourhood. It provides an opportunity to witness for Jesus among those who are largely unchurched. It is an exciting extension to Ferndale’s ministry.‘
