Taking seriously the experience of work, business and the High Street

As local ASDA chaplains, Stephen and Gareth were invited to attend the first ASDA Chaplaincy Synod at Asda House, Leeds on the 29th November.

The long journey was amply repaid by the opportunity to learn from the Chief Executive the very positive role that the company perceive for the chaplains. Discussion among the attendees (from as far away as the South Coast and Scotland) was lively and profitable and both Gareth and Stephen returned with a fresh sense of vision and direction for the work. Gareth commented, ‘Huge thanks to ASDA for the chance to meet together like this and we’re really grateful to our fellow chaplains who put so much effort into planning to make the conference such a success… I also learnt a good joke from an Orthodox priest (although it’s funnier when you hear it from an orthodox priest…)!’ The Synod is to be shortly featured in The Times!  It has already featured in the Yorkshire Post, which you can read at http://www.yorkshiretoday.co.uk/ViewArticle2.aspx?SectionID=55&ArticleID=1270652
