Preparing for the Christ Child
Maureen and her team supplied about 50 with an excellent Christmas dinner on Friday night. Then on Sunday morning the younger members of the Church led a good number of regulars and guests through the Christmas story, Ron Wright emphasising that a story that is 2000 years old is just as relevant to us all today as it ever was. Another large gathering with many visitors joined to hear the traditional readings and sing Christmas songs old and new in a Carols by Candlelight service in the evening. There Jon Delves pointed out that, despite record receipts during the week, Woolworths needed someone to save them. In the same way, we, whoever we are, need a Saviour too.
Stephen commented, ‘Ferndale has discovered for a number of years that the Christmas season offers us the best opportunity to witness to our neighbours and friends the Gospel message. We were delighted to welcome so many guests this weekend: and thankful for the clarity with which Ron and Jon set out the Christian message.‘
