Ferndale, students and freedom of speech

Posted on 14 January 2007
The Christian Union movement has recently been under attack in various Universities around the country on the basis that it restricts membership and is homophobic. At Exeter University it has prompted a request for a Judicial Review. Such developments are the unacceptable face of modern liberal humanism that denies the right of others to hold alternative views. It is a challenge to the fundamental rights of all British citizens to freedom of speech and association.

Prompted by such development and encouraged by Gareth the Church wrote a letter to local MP, James Duddridge, encouraging him to support the motion promoted by some of his parliamentary colleagues to reaffirm these basic privileges. In reply, James indicated that he had now decided to do so.
