Later the same week (the 23rd) a large congregation met at Ferndale to officially lay-up the old standard and to dedicate the new standard of the Association.

Attended by the deputy mayor, Councillor Sally Carr, and by ward Councillors, Peter Ashley and Paul Van Looey, submariners and other service personnel gathered for the ceremony and to hear Stephen preach from Psalm 130: ‘Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord’. An exhibition of naval memorabilia (especially of Bibles and Prayer Books) was provided and proved a talking point… and a first rate buffet was provided by Rose. All in all, a day to remember. The old standard, entrusted to trhe Church, is now proudly and permanently displayed.
