Christ is risen indeed! Alleluia!

An intrepid group of local Anglicans, Baptists and Methodists overcame sub-zero temperatures to gather shortly after dawn on Easter Sunday on Thorpe Bay beach to join the Ferndale Church and celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus.

The gathering, which included communion and ended with the sharing of Easter eggs was the third such celebration and a happy opportunity for the different local congregations to share together in the celebration of their common faith.

Later, as snow fell outside, the Ferndale congregation welcomed Easter as Stephen and Gareth led them through a dramatic enactment of the events of the Passion and asked ‘Why did Jesus die?‘ and ‘What should the resurrection mean for me?‘

Stephen commented, ‘It has been a privilege to share the Easter period with so many of our other brothers and sisters in St. Luke’s and Southchurch. Together we have been able to publicly bear witness to those events that we believe to be central to the Christian faith and the needs of a fallen humanity. We continue to pray together that the local community will, at length, resound with the praises of our God and his Christ!‘

Lets hope that this proves to be the coldest Ferndale service of the year!
