Challenges at Forum

Posted on 11 September 2008
Forum, the UCCF Training Week took place at a wet and muddy Quinta, recently.

Peter Dray and Gareth Leaney were among the UCCF Leaders present and Sarah Dawkins and Anna Dray volunteered as kitchen helpers.

Anna Dray reports that this Forum ‘was the biggest so far with approximately 1000 CU leaders, Relay Workers, Staff Workers and students present, all delighting and celebrating in God’s Word together. All got excited about the forthcoming year, discussing ‘freshers’ week preparations and the Free Gospel project: where free copies of Mark’s Gospel are to be given to students all around the country (and worldwide).’ To find out more go to http://www.free-online.org.uk.

Anna notes that ‘John Piper spoke during the week on the Book of Ruth, showing how God is present and at work even in the darkest of times….’ She adds, ‘Graham Daniels spoke on Matthew 10, showing how we are too quiet and asked ‘What is the point of being shy and anxious? How does God’s plan for believers being his advocates work?’ He pointed out that ‘I guarantee you have all heard someone talk to you about God and Christianity. So, ‘Yes’ sharing the faith works.’

Anna concludes that, for her, a real challenge was the reminder that we ought to make God the centre of all things together with our longing for all to know the good news.
