CAFE OPEN: OFFICIAL
Opened by James Duddridge, MP for Rochford and Southend East, it was also attended by local ward councillors, Anna Waite, Peter Ashby and Mike Royston as well as prospective candidate, Sally Carr. The ASDA Foundation were also represented by local ASDA colleagues including Luanna Julien who assisted Ferndale in obtaining a grant. The event co-incided with the Easter Egg Hunt in Cluny Square and the Easter Bonnet competition. Face Painting, a tombola and other activities also took place. Stephen spoke of the combined efforts of funders such as the Jones Memorial and ROSCA Trusts, the Baptist Union and the local residents association. He noted that councillors, police and many others had worked together on the project. James Duddridge warmly commended the efforts that had led to the opening and encouraged Stephen to start public worship in the cafe.
