Baptist Archbishop!
Posted on 08 April 2009
Ferndale Baptist Church is delighted to announce the visit of Archbishop Malkhaz Songulashvili on May 24th
Malkhaz is the leader of the Evangelical Baptist Church of Georgia: a denomination that is second in size ot the Georgian Orthodox Church: itself one of the oldest Christian Churches in the world.
Malkhaz currently divides his time between his substantial pastoral duties (especially heavy after the invasion of his country last year) and his doctoral studies at Oxford. His church is a remarkable example of the way evangelical and baptist convictions have been worked out in the context of a prevailing Orthodox religious culture. We look forward, very much, to his visit!
