A vision realised: twenty years on

The New Testament Crossway Bible Guides should be completed in 2007. This was a confirmed at the editorial meeting of the guides earlier this week. Plans are now afoot to see how the remaining Old Testament volumes can be produced.

The Guides are the result of a conversation between Ferndale pastor, Stephen Dray, and a member of his then congregation, Woolia Brown, at New Cross Road Baptist Church… about twenty years ago. Stephen, newly starting out in ministry, was challenged to recognise that there were very few books available to help non-specialists to study the Bible for themselves. He was also prompted to recognise that pastors and teachers in the Two-thirds world had no resources to help them teach their congregations week by week. And so the idea of the guides were born.
