A sombre victory

The local election last week saw a change of personnel in our local ward councillors. Kevin Robinson, who as served the ward with compassion and diligence for six years, was ousted by the narrowest of margins: 14 votes. The victorious candidate was Anna Waite, former Conservative leader in town, who was returned to the Council after losing her Prittlewell seat in 2006. The British National Party came third and polled approximately 20 per cent of the vote.

Ferndale minister, Stephen Dray, commented, ‘The two main candidates in the election were both high calibre people and it is a great pity one of them had to lose. We have enjoyed working together with Kevin and wish him well for the future. We look forward to a close working relationship with Anna that will lead to the ongoing renewal of St. Luke’s ward.
