A council of Bishops

Posted on 19 September 2007
The weekend was marked by a Southend ‘first’: five bishops of the Brethren in Christ Church from India, USA, Zambia and Zimbabwe gathered at Ferndale; together with representatives of the congregations at Southend, Forest Gate, Beckton, Basildon and Coventry. The churches were encouraged to work more closely together and develop a common vision for the work in England. The day concluded with a barbeque at Stephen and Anne’s home.

Bishop Danisa Ndlovu of Zimbabwe was able to meet together with the congregation of Ferndale Baptist Church on Sunday and bring greetings. He was especially thankful for the way the Baptist congregation had found it in their hearts to support and nurture the Southend Brethren in Christ church and their leader, Pastor Bonnet Moyo. Bonnet, Stephen and the bishop were able to spend time together later in his visit to explore further ways in which the two churches could support and fellowship with one another… including a visit of Stephen to Zimbabwe!
